In amongst lockdown chaos, CompEx’s annual UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) assessment was due, which meant as well as making provisions for team home working and maintaining the overall certification process, CompEx has also been working hard to pull materials together to conduct UKAS’ first ever remote assessment.

For the new assessment approach, the UKAS assessment team spent two full days at the end of March working with the CompEx Senior Management Team and our Quality Assurance Manager to undertake a full remote assessment of the CompEx Certification Body. Previously, this has always been carried out at CompEx’s Wrexham HQ, so the newly adapted method was different for all and involved parties meeting and working together online throughout the two days.

To prepare for the assessment, CompEx supplied UKAS with several requested documents, along with supporting information and manuals during the assessment. The UKAS Executive Summary is shown below and we are delighted to announce that we have secured our accreditation for a further 12 months. CompEx hopes to arrange centre witnessed activities for Autumn 2020.

“CompEx demonstrated a level of competence and a commitment to operate professionally and efficiently. There was a positive attitude to meet the requirements of ISO/IEC17024:2012 shown in the commitment to the remote assessment process from top management, which is corroborated by in-depth quality management system reviews and commitment from senior management.  The files reviewed and interviews conducted during the assessment demonstrated that CompEx is operating effectively and in accordance with its own set procedures.”

Huw Bement, CompEx Director comments, “As the only UKAS accredited certification body, we work hard to maintain our accreditation which sets us apart from our competitors, whilst demonstrating and endorsing the quality and merit of the CompEx Scheme.”
